Power steering
In the 1920's
Francis W. Davis invented power steering. As the chief engineer at Pierce Arrow
Motor Car Company truck division he was able to see firsthand how difficult it
was to steer heavy vehicles. After quitting his job at Pierce Arrow and renting
a small engineering shop in Waltham, MA Davis developed a hydraulic system that
led to power steering. In 1951 power steering became available commercially.Thursday, March 13, 2014

Ford has started a customer
satisfaction campaign to remedy problems with some of their late model
vehicles. Ford owners have complained about a drop in engine power which is cause
by the engine throttle body affecting approximately 1.6 million vehicles. Ford
stated that customers can take their vehicle to the dealership to have the
powertrain control module software reprogrammed to protect the throttle body,
with the normal warranty extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles.
This campaign by Ford was
enough to satisfy the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the
agency has closed a defect investigation into those models and the will not try
to force a recall.

Mini Cooper New Clubman Concept Car
BMW’s Mini Cooper will make its debut of the Clubman
concept car at the Geneva auto show. To boost its competiveness with families
and premium-brand rivals the concept is 6/7 inches wider and an inch taller
than the current model. Instead of three doors the new Clubman concept has four
doors and seats five. Also being improved is the quality of the interior and
adding features such as a separate under floor storage and storage pouches in
the rear doors. Next year the production version is due out and is mostly to
look like the concept version.
