America's First True Commercial Automobile Manufacturer
Dozens of “horseless
carriages” were built in the 1890’s.
Credited as being America’s first true commercial automobile
manufacturers are Charles and Frank Duryea.
They based their Duryea Motor Wagon company in Springfield, Massachusetts
and in 1896 they sold 13 identical vehicles.
