The first car available in different colors was the 1909 Ford Model T

The first car available in different colors was the 1909 Ford Model T, red.  Model T Fords were available in 4 to 5 colors which were of darker shades, however black was not one of the colors available. Interestingly from 1914 to 1926, all Ford Model T’s were painted black to cut down the production cost. During that time black paint was cheaper and dried the fastest which allowed Ford to complete a car in about 90 minutes, keeping the price of the car relatively inexpensive.
