Volkswagen stops the
sale of Golf and GTI
Today Volkswagen sent out notice to dealer to stop the sale of approximately
800 of its GTI hatchback and new Golf in the U.S. and Canada for a mistake in
assembly that could cause problems with the steering. According to a stop sale
order that was sent out to dealers today from Volkswagen the front stabilizer
links were installed with too little torque.
According to notice over time the stabilizer links can come
loose and make “considerable noise”. If the links were to detach completely the
car would become more difficult to steer and could lead to a crash.
The total number of cars affected in the U.S. is 2,001 and 108
in Canada. No customers have reported any problems.
