Nissan Recalling approximately 768,000 vehicles for Different Issues
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Nissan Motor Company said today that 552,135 Nissan Rogue Crossover model years 2008 and 2013 are going to be recalled due to the possibility of having moisture seeping through the floor on the driver’s side potentially causing a short in the electrically wiring leading to a fire. Out the 552,135 vehicles being recalled 468,815 are registered in the U.S.
The Nissan Pathfinder SUV’s model years 2013 and 2014 along with the Infiniti JX35 SUV’s model year 2013 are being recalled for secondary hood latch problems, out of the 215,789 vehicles involved in this recall 170,665 are registered in the U.S.
The recall extends to Canada for 52,312 Rouge Crossovers and 15,972 Pathfinder SUV’s and Infiniti JX35 SUV’s.

Audi Not Advertising During this Year’s Super Bowl

For the first time in seven years Audi will not be advertising during the Super Bowl.  Ford and Lincoln brands will also not be advertised during the Super Bowl.  Automakers that have made the decision to advertise during the Super Bowl are, Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Kia there are others that have not yet made the decision.

Big Factor in New Vehicle Buying
J.D.  Power and Associates stated in a new report that for the 4th year running new vehicle buyers rated fuel economy as the biggest reason for purchasing a particular vehicle make and model.  Hybrids were not a consideration for 27% of those surveyed as they felt Hybrids were too expensive and did have enough of the latest technology.

The Ford GT features a carbon fiber body that researchers are going to be evaluating for possible use in other vehicles.


ACURA NSX

In the 1990’s the NSX was Honda’s sports car, but was discontinued in 2005. This new successor the Acura NSX has the company hoping the car will reignite the brands popularity among sports car enthusiast.



NISSAN TITAN

The redesigned Titan will be offered with a Cummins turbo-diesel V-8, two frame sizes, three lengths of bed sizes and a couple of gas engines expanding the Titans models. Nissan is hoping this new Titan will attract domestic truck buyers.


Toyota Tacoma

The 2016 Toyota is a great truck, however competing with the strong line-up of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, the Tacoma is going to have a difficult time dominating the compact truck market.


Volvo S60 Inscription

The Volvo is being built at China’s plant in Chengdu, China. The company is going to be exporting the large sedan to the U.S. and will be the very first vehicle from a major Chinese auto maker in to the United States.

Mercedes-Benz Moving U.S. Headquarters

Mercedes-Benz has outgrown its current location in New Jersey and will be moving its headquarters in June to temporary offices in Atlanta.  A new headquarters complex is scheduled to be completed sometime by end of 2017. Contributing factors for the move were the high costs in New Jersey and the anticipated growth in the South in sales and dealerships. In the past year Mercedes-Benz is the third automaker to announce a U.S headquarters move.

Prison Sentence for Price Fixing for a Former Toyoda Gosei Executive

Agreeing to plead guilty to a conspiracy charge Makoto Horie former senior vice president of sales for Toyoda Gosei will serve time in prison for his part in fixing the prices of automotive hoses sold to Toyota. According to U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust division, Mr. Horie will pay a fine of $20,000 and serve one year and one day in prison.

A New Crossover Revealed
MG, the British sports car maker now currently owned by China’s Nanjing Automobile Group has announced the sale of the first ever MG crossover the MG GTS. This new crossover will go on sale in China the first half of 2015.
