Daimler, Mercedes-Benz is recalling approximately 840,000 vehicles equipped with Takata Airbags

Last week U.S. regulators said that the risk of vehicles having violent explosions from Takata Airbags were limited to older vehicles typically model years no later than 2008.

Daimler is recalling about 136,000 vans and Mercedes-Benz car recall is for approximately 705,000 vehicles in the United States equipped with Takata Airbags at a cost to the German automaker of 382 million US dollars (340 million euros).

According to Daimler the recall is "precautionary". The affected Daimler vans model years 2007-2014 and various Mercedes models from 2005-2014.
